Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 19, 2026

Short version: SeekJump processes search queries, browsing history, tab information, and page text locally on your device to provide search and in-page navigation. The developer does not receive, sell, or use this data for advertising.

1. What SeekJump does

SeekJump is a Chrome extension that searches open tabs, page text, and browsing history; opens a selected result; and jumps to matching text on the page. It can also open a user-selected web search engine or AI chatbot.

2. Information processed

To provide these user-facing features, SeekJump may process:

• Search queries and text you explicitly select on a webpage.
• Open-tab URLs, page titles, and readable page text.
• Browsing-history URLs, titles, and visit times.
• Locally cached text from pages visited after the extension is installed.
• Your preferred search engine and temporary page-match navigation state.

3. Local processing and storage

Search and indexing are performed locally in Chrome. SeekJump stores preferences and temporary navigation state in Chrome extension storage. To make previously visited page text searchable, it stores a local IndexedDB cache containing at most 1,000 recent pages and up to 120,000 text characters per page. SeekJump does not index Incognito windows.

4. Data transmission and sharing

SeekJump has no developer-operated server and does not transmit browsing history, page text, or local search indexes to the developer. The developer does not sell, rent, share, or use this information for advertising, profiling, or creditworthiness decisions, and no person is permitted to read it.

When you explicitly choose Google, Bing, Baidu, your browser's default search provider, or another supported external service, Chrome opens that service with your query. When you choose ChatGPT, SeekJump copies the query to your clipboard and opens ChatGPT; it does not automatically submit the query. Data handled by an external service is governed by that service's privacy policy.

5. Permissions

• history: search history metadata and remove related cached text when Chrome history is deleted.
• tabs and all sites: search open tabs and readable page text, activate results, and support pages the user visits.
• scripting: read searchable text and display match highlighting and navigation.
• storage and unlimitedStorage: keep preferences, temporary state, and the bounded local text index.
• clipboardWrite: copy a query only when the user chooses ChatGPT.
• search: open a query with Chrome's default search provider.

6. Retention and deletion

Cached page text is retained locally until it is replaced by newer entries, the corresponding Chrome history is deleted, Chrome clears the extension's storage, or the extension is uninstalled. SeekJump listens for Chrome history deletion and removes matching cached entries.

7. Security

Because SeekJump does not operate a remote backend, the data described above remains inside Chrome's extension storage on your device, except when you deliberately open an external search service as described in Section 4.

8. Limited Use

SeekJump's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

9. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when SeekJump's functionality or data practices change. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date and, when required, an in-product notice.
